Linen is the fiber obtained from the flax stalk. Traditionally linen is obtained from pulled flax to preserve the fiber length and is then retted or rotted in water to separate the linen fiber from the surrounding soft material. It is considered to be the strongest natural fiber. Evidence shows that linen could be the oldest textile in the world. It can be used in the production of clothing and household fabrics.
